Engineering the Network

I was invited to join this team due to my previous experiance working on Networked Multiplayer and in Unreal Engine.

I worked with a 20 person team made up of artists, actors, and producers while leading our Engineering Team. My goal was to help coordinate the vision of our designers with the technical skills of our engineers.

During the project I lead development on many key features, including our networking procedures, our internal code standards, and our physics simulations.

Bridging Dev and Design

Despite the size and various skill set of our team something we we're lacking was a formal Game Designer. This meant the burden of design fell upon everyone, with the team leads at the front. 

This meant that, as the Engineering Lead, it was my job to help shape the design and make sure the other programmers we're able to work effectively to bring it to life.

This taught me a lot about the instrumental role of documentation and coordination in larger projects. Ideas not on paper will be forgotten very quickly and often poorly conveyed down the line.

Learning to optimize the pipelines for meeting and collaborating between the teams was vital for this project.
