Unreal Engine for Fortnite:
UEFN

New experiences making use of Epic's newest platform.

This was my first time getting to be on a project from conception to finish. I helped research the engine, analyze what was popular from Fortnite Creative 1.0, pitch game concepts to management, develop the project, and then finally launch.

It helped give me an oversight of every aspect of the game development process, and launch multiple successful games, with our most successful project being our first, Underwater Survival.

Design and Development

Underwater Survival is a Wave-Based Shooter where players must defened a series of zones

The goal of the project was to put our unique spin on a popular game-mode from Fortnite's Creative 1.0, taking advantage of the new and more robust development enviroment provided by UEFN.

To do that we wanted to create a map with a level of visual fidelity far greater than what was on the platform, allowing us to really put this new technology through it's paces.

As the lead Verse and Device Engineer, it was my job to bridge the gap between the Goals of the Artists and the needs of the Game.

Our map for this game large and filled with lots of structures and changes in elevation.

However the pathing AI of the enemies was farely simple and couldn't handle such complex geometry.

So I used special terrain invisible to the player that the enemies could pather over and that player could run around freely.
